With the poor selling of Windows RT hardware and Surface RT tablet, Microsoft has launched the new Microsoft Surface 2 with a better model than the previous one and also the better performance as compared to the previous one. The new design of this surface 2 has new silver paint job. Like the previous model this also have a kickstand and can snap at two angles, one when the device is placed on the table and other when the device is on the user’s lap. The surface 2 tablet is little thinner than the previous one. The tablet has a power key on the top and the USB 3.0 port on the right side of the tablet.
Pros
- The type cover and the touch cover are fabulous. This type of covers is not offered by any other tablet.
- The HD display is wide in this surface 2 tablet
- This surface 2 tablet runs on windows 8. Most of the apps are run on windows 8 if not all.
- Both the models of surface 2 that is surface RT and surface pro have USB ports with the difference that surface RT will have normal USB port and Surface pro will have 3.0 USB port.
- The kickstand that is built in also provides the advantage to this tablet over the others.
Cons
- The desktop apps will not run by the Microsoft surface for windows RT.
- There is no information about the windows RT developer support that how many apps will be there? Which apps will be available during launch is all unknown by now.
- The price of this Microsoft surface 2 can be high.
- The surface 2 tablet doesn’t have 3G and 4G connection system.
- This tablet will be heavy. Due to build in kickstand this tablet is little heavy.
The other features of this tablet include the camera which is 5MP for the rear and 3.5 MP front camera. Voice clarity and video clarity will improve for video calling. The battery life of this tablet will also improve from the previous one and will last for 10 hours approximately. The display screen is 10.6 inch and a resolution of 1920*1080 pixels.
The software of this surface 2 will be improved one with windows RT 8.1 pre installed in it and many more improvements like multitasking, cloud connectivity are major improvements in this tablet. There will be built in Microsoft office in this tablet. Skype will be a bonus for anyone who purchases this tablet as the user will get free international calls for a year to over 60 countries globally.
The storage capacity of this tablet has also improved a lot in this version. The surface pro model will come with 256 GB or 512 GB of SSD storage and 64 GB or 128 GB internal flash memory storage. There is also the micro SD card slot for expanding the storage area and company is offering 200 GB free Sky Drive space. The device has a 1.7 GHz quad core processor and 2 GB RAM. The internal storage of this device is 32 GB and some space will be reserved for system files. 64 GB model will also be available but for that the customer has to pay $100 extra. Surface 2 will be available to buy from 22 October, 2013 and it is priced at $449.
