Lenovo Group Limited is a Chinese multinational company which is one of the largest producers of computers and laptops. The Chinese giant had recently launched its tablet Lenovo A1000 to give a tough fight to its competitors in the market. Lenovo is slowly making its existence in tablet market by launching its tablets slowly at affordable prices and great features. This tablet is available for $105 on Amazon.com and it can be purchased for $120-$140 in the market.
Pros: Good sound quality, Light weight and easy to use, microSD card support, Low price
Cons: Poor display & graphics, Below-average performance, No rear camera
Lenovo A1000 is glossy plastic tablet that have dimensions around 7.8 x 4.8 x 0.4 inches and weighs around 12.32 ounces. A1000 does not have a solid look and there is nothing new about it. The design is very simple just like a pebble that makes it easier to hold. You can easily find the power and volume buttons, 3.5mm audio jack, USB port, SD card slot on the edges. The rear camera is absent on the tablet and the front facing camera is just 0.3 megapixel. But one plus point is that the front facing camera of 0.3 megapixels gives good clarity and is located at top left corner above the screen.
A1000 has speaker grills just above and below the screen and have a good sound too. The display of the tablet is letting it down. The display of this tablet is just 1024 x 600 pixels; while some low cost tablets are giving display about 1280 x 800 pixels. The color appears to have washed out, if you look the screen from any other angle than straight. The display of this tablet is recessed under the glass surface making the screen more reflective. This tablet offers Wi-Fi & Bluetooth for connectivity and comes in two variants – 16 GB for $160 and 32 GB variant for $189. GPS is however absent on this tab.
The hardware is very common just like other tablets coming up in the market with low price. A1000 is powered by 1.2 GHz MediaTek dual core processor and have a 1 GB RAM. The tablet has some issues with its performance. Issues can occur during the witch orientation and witching of multiple tabs that can cause hang outs. If you are watching video on the tablet with Wi-Fi on and brightness is set to maximum then the battery last for 5 hours. Lenovo A1000 has got Android 4.2.1 installed. The tab comes installed with useless Lenovo apps and widgets. There is a menu button along the status bar and nothing else is major on the tab.
As talked earlier the tablet has got brilliant voice speakers that are making it sold in the market. The audio optimization of the tab is excellent which is provided by Dolby Digital branded equalizers. Lenovo A1000 tab is beating its other competitors like Toshiba, Asus, and Slate in terms of its sound quality. The music files like AAC, Mp3, WAV and OCG are supported while FLAC and WMA are not at all supported by the tablet. You can watch videos at 1080p resolution in MP4, h.264, Xvid and WMV formats. SO, if you just want a good sound tablet, you can go for it. But I will prefer to look at some other tablets in its range for some better features. I would suggest you to go for Nexus 7 which is a better option than this one.
